Fantastisk opplevelse: Amazing art deco hotel (in an old electric company building). Tastefully refurbished and decorated, room was comfortable if a bit small. There is a heated pool and saunas - don't miss them during your visit!! The restaurant was also an impressive space, with a large, delicious breakfast on offer. We also had dinner on Christmas day - also very tasty and the live music was a good accompaniment, never too loud or distracting!

Positiv opplevelse: This already comes up in the reviews here but the service here really is substandard. Stayed for three nights. Poor service examples: things we requested for the room never arrived; returned to hotel after afternoon out and bed was unmade; told by pool staff at 1815 that we "could go in but had to be quick" (pool closed at 1900); we were reminded twice over breakfast that we had to be out by 1000 (we arrived at 0900); went to the brasserie for dinner and the waiter told us that he could only take our food order not our drinks order because the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes (he never returned to take a drinks order); dinner bill left on table without requesting it and without explanation. These things happen in hotels - staff are busy, things get missed, people can be in bad moods - but the service was poor across the board. Unwelcoming vibe. The atmosphere was that guests were, at best, to be tolerated. The rooms themselves were nicely decorated. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The location is good - tram right outside. But don't book this expecting a high quality hotel with corresponding service - all fur coat no knickers.

Fantastisk opplevelse: We had a wonderful staycation during a hectic Christmas period and really enjoyed this beautiful hotel. We had complimentary breakfast delivered to our room, used the rooftop spa facilities at sunset, and a nice steak dinner at ekspedisjonshallen. The bed and sheets were quite comfortable, and the amenities in the room really elevated the experience. Very much reminiscent of vintage hospitality with luxury and service minded staff. Thank you for our stay! We look forward to next time.

Negativ opplevelse: We stayed at Sommerro Oslo and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience from start to finish. Despite having a fully prepaid booking, our Junior Suite was not ready well after the stated check-in time. We were traveling with a baby and experiencing jet lag, yet were repeatedly told only “sorry” without any concrete solution or timeline. After posting a review, the hotel contacted us and verbally offered a USD 100 dining credit and a 50% reduction on the room rate as compensation. However, these promises were never honored. We dined at the ground-floor restaurant the same evening, and the bill was charged in full except for the standard AmEx benefit. No dining credit was applied or provided, and no room rate refund has been processed. What is most disappointing is not just the poor service, but the lack of integrity. Making promises to resolve an issue and then failing to follow through reflects very poorly on the hotel’s management and professionalism. This stay did not meet the standards expected of a luxury hotel.

Negativ opplevelse: Official check-in time at Sommerro is 3:00 pm. We booked a Junior Suite through American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts, yet close to 4:00 pm the room was still not ready. We were the only guests waiting, traveling with a baby who was experiencing jet lag. Despite the circumstances, no concrete solution or meaningful service recovery was offered. The front desk could only repeat “sorry,” without providing an alternative room, timeline, or compensation. Delays can happen, but how they are handled defines a luxury hotel. In this case, the lack of urgency and care fell well below the standards expected of a Fine Hotels + Resorts property and a Michelin-recommended hotel. This was a very disappointing start to what was meant to be a high-end stay. UPDATE Update: After posting my initial review, the hotel contacted us and verbally offered a USD 100 dining credit and a 50% reduction on the room rate as a goodwill gesture. However, neither of these promises has been honored. We paid the stay in full in advance and also dined at the ground-floor restaurant on the same evening. The restaurant bill was charged in full, except for the standard AmEx benefit, and no dining credit was applied or provided. To date, there has also been no refund or adjustment to the room rate. This is extremely disappointing. Offering compensation after a complaint, and then failing to actually deliver it, reflects very poorly on the hotel’s professionalism and integrity. At this point, it is not just about a bad check-in experience, but about trust and accountability.

Positiv opplevelse: I did not stay in this hotel . Just had dinner . The atmosphere was nice with a live band . Very good wine list ( even if it is quite expensive) . All together it was a very nice evening ( I had great company) . The reason why am only giving a 3 because : 1) I asked for a very rare steak and it was over cook .2) lack of professionalism from the staff. They can not pronounce the food correctly and the attitude was not the best . Big lack of training from manage.

Good distance walk to akker breyygre and Oslo city (around 15 mins) Nationalthreate train station is just 5 mins walk away. Cost is higher but worth if just staying for couple of days.

Negativ opplevelse: Sommerro is a beautiful hotel with impressive wellness facilities — the atmosphere, design and staff were all excellent. However, my massage experience was disappointing. I have scoliosis, and when I informed the therapist in the treatment room, I was told that I should have booked a deep tissue massage. Unfortunately, Sommerro’s website does not list massage types or explain the differences, so I had no way of selecting the correct treatment in advance. The therapist was kind and professional, but the lack of clear information online meant the massage I received wasn’t suitable for my needs. Improving the clarity of treatment descriptions on the website would make the spa experience much better. Overall, a great hotel, but the massage booking system needs more transparency.

Fantastisk opplevelse: Vi hadde ett fantastisk opphold i juniorsuite og koste oss veldig. Sjarmerende hotell med særegen stil og stemning. Middagen i Ekspedisjonshallen var en støyete opplevelse så det anbefales ikke, men frokosten var derimot veldig veldig bra. Godt utvalg i mat og hyggelige servitører. Kommer tilbake!

Positiv opplevelse: Good location, not far from shops if you don’t mind a walk. You can also jump on a scooter for a small cost. Room was overall good. Space was adequate, could do with more hangers but could probably have asked and got more. Slight issue with a leaking shower but quickly rectified. At breakfast there is a good selection of foods although I’m not sure the cooked food process works very well especially when it’s busy. Would be better to have table service instead of guests standing around waiting for food to be cooked in real time. Pool and spa not great as the pool is a bit cold and the saunas a separate in men’s and women’s shower areas. No steam room. The paid top pool and sauna is small, so any more than 4 feels cramped. Not enough space for slippers outside the door to the sauna and not enough hooks for gowns. Top restaurant Tak is ok if you like loud music while you’re eating, definitely not suitable for a quiet romantic evening. You have to walk through the middle of the loud and busy bar to get up to the mezzanine where the tables for the restaurant are. Food was ok, some nice and some dishes just bizarre. Staff were mixed, some helpful and some just obnoxious. Overall though, staff seemed a little obsequious, smiling and just saying yes to everything then not doing what they’ve just said they would do. Housekeeping were hopeless, no replenishment of drinks on more than one occasion and despite raising a concern about the snacks, we still didn’t get them replenished. They also forgot teaspoons, milk, left a cold old cup of tea, a stale glass of drink, moved passports for no good reason and didn’t provide clean floor towels. Overall quite a good hotel but inconsistent standards let it down. Would probably stay outside the city and hire a car next time.

Fantastisk opplevelse: 這間飯店為我們帶來的美好感受實在是言語無法形容，不但房間跟公共區域每一個細節設計都美輪美奐，讓人讚嘆，服務品質也很出色，工作人員親切友善，讓人一進來就覺得很放鬆。 房間裡備品齊全，隔音非常好，完全聽不到外面的聲音。床也很好睡，我們住兩晚都是一上床就秒睡。房間的細節很美，好像住在設計雜誌裡面的房子一樣。 來這裡面入住一定要使用他們的設施，但記得要先預約。地下室有古代浴場改建的漂亮泳池，充滿懷舊復古卻增添現代感的氛圍。屋頂上還有另一個有絕美景觀的泳池，旁邊有烤箱，也提供水果和咖啡，非常貼心。健身房設備齊全也很讚。早餐的菜色很多樣，每一道菜都非常講究，好吃又新鮮。用餐的環境也非常漂亮，讓一天有美好的開始。 這間飯店的交通位置也很好，去哪裡都方便，不論是硬體軟體都讓人驚艷，非常值得推薦！

Negativ opplevelse: I stayed for three nights in Junior Suite room and I was left disappointed with the quality of the service in the hotel, which is surely not a five-star hotel service. The most important issue that I had was from the level of housekeeping services. On the night of the check in, I found a few long dark hair on the floor in the bathroom, which were definitely not mine. The next day I was shocked when I came back to the hotel in the evening. My first thought was that the housekeeping missed my room, but then I saw that the bed is made. However nothing besides the bed and the change of towels was cleaned. I left some clothes on the sofa and it was left laying there, it was not folded. The hotel’s iron that I took from the closet and left on the floor was still on the floor. Even the doors of the closet which I left opened were not closed by the housekeeping team. I’ve been in many different countries and in many different hotels but I have never seen the housekeeping only making the bad and changing the towels and leaving anything else uncleaned just like that. I came to the reception to tell about this issue. They told me they are sorry and they will give my feedback to the housekeeping team and the manager. However, when I came to the hotel the next evening, the situation was exactly the same - nothing besides the bed and towels was cleaned. I came to the reception again, and they told me that the reason for that is that housekeeping is not allowed to touch guest’s personal belongings. It’s a poor excuse, and once again, I never faces such situation anywhere: I don’t see any problem folding a few t-shirts that belong to the guest. Even if it is the case, the doors of the closet, the iron etc are not my belongings and they were not put anywhere as well. The second concern is that when we arrived on our first night, we were not given any information about the spa facilities, and even when we asked we were told only about the gym and pool downstairs. I saw the pictures of the pool and sauna on the roof, so I had to find information about it myself. We were not told about these facilities even though they were included in our room category. Also I was really disappointed that these are not included for all of the guests: if I chose a different category of the room and found out on arrival that I can’t use these facilities, I would be really sad and probably would ask for a refund and find another hotel. It’s better to increase the room price by 50 euros than to ask guests to pay extra and to book the pool for a certain time. If I’m staying in a hotel I want to use the pool any time during the working hours. Moreover, the hotel provides the option to book the spa for non guests, and as far as I understand from the previous reviews, during the hot season some guests didn’t have an opportunity to visit the rooftop pool or to find a place there even if they wanted to pay for it due to the overbooking. It is obvious that guests of the hotel should be prioritized in this case and that the hotel doesn’t need to make the place overcrowded. And the last one is about the breakfast. The tables are places very close to each other in a way that it’s impossible to talk without hearing the conversation of people close to you. The breakfast is both buffet and a-la-carte, but you cannot order to the waiter, you need to come and order yourself and you need to wait in a queue both to order and then wait for your food and then wait in a queue to pick it up. You also need to wait like 15 mins for the waiter to notice you to order a tea or coffee. All of the issues of the breakfast are created because the hotel allows not only guests to have breakfast, but also a walk-in breakfast for some sort of price for non guests. Due to this, the place is overcrowded and it is harder to handle this amount of people. I believe the hotel should try to create more comfort for the guests and not only try to gain as much money as possible by walk-in breakfasts.

Fantastisk opplevelse: Fantastisk service fra resepsjonisten (en mørk håret blid ung dame) og personalet fra konferanse avdelingen. Når jeg ankom hotellet og spurte hvor jeg skulle gå for å finne salen der vi hadde booket for et event ble jeg personligen ført til heisen. Resepsjonisten hjalp meg også til å komme til rett etasje med å trykke på heisens bestillings skjerm, jeg fikk forklaring på hvordan heisen brukes og i tillegg en veibeskrivelse til salen fra heisen. Vel på plass fikk vi hjelp til alt vi trengte og god oppfølging av personalet, som alle var lett tilgjengelige gjennom hele eventet. Bollene og kaffen vi fikk servert smakte veldig godt. Rommene kan jeg ikke si noe om siden jeg ikke overnattet. Anbefales på det sterkeste!

Fantastisk opplevelse: When I began to plan our trip to Oslo, I struggled with which upscale property in the city to choose. In the end, I chose the Sommerro and it was the perfect choice. The location could not have been better. The hotel is stunning - beautiful common areas, luxury accommodations, and refined and professional service. The room was remarkably soundproofed and we had an excellent night of sleep for 3 nights in a Junior Suite. Highly recommended!

Negativ opplevelse: Don’t book a twin room! They are on the 6th floor. Loud music all evening (it’s 23h now) and no phone in the room to talk to reception about it. There is also no view as the window is tiny. If you want to stay here go for a double room on a lower floor.

Negativ opplevelse: I had high expectations for Sommerro Hotel, but unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. From the very beginning, the service fell far short of what one would expect from a five star property. At check in, there was no assistance with luggage, and when we asked the front desk to help us reserve a table at one of the restaurants, we were told to go upstairs and do it ourselves. When we finally arrived at our reservation, the staff seemed disorganized and confused. Although there was a beautiful terrace table available, we were instead placed at a makeshift setup that felt like an afterthought. To make matters worse, that same terrace table was later given to another couple. On top of that, many facilities including the pool are chargeable, which was surprising given the positioning of this hotel. Overall, what should have been a memorable and enjoyable stay ended up being frustrating and underwhelming. The lack of professionalism and poor customer service are simply not acceptable for a hotel of this supposed caliber.

However, the service, design, and breakfast at the Sommerro Hotel in Oslo exceeded all expectations. This hotel is a clear winner in terms of design and, without a doubt, breakfast. It set a wonderful tone for the rest of our trip and wasn't even the most expensive hotel we stayed at in Oslo. From the moment we arrived, the staff was fantastic, and the hotel's aesthetic felt unique and inspiring. The breakfast was a true highlight—a culinary experience that we won't forget. We can't wait to come back.

Fantastisk opplevelse: The best hotel! Gorgeous renovation with art deco details, great room and an amazing breakfast buffet. The best in our three weeks in Norway. Staff was very helpful. Ate at two of the restaurants and we were given a lovely breakfast box for our very early departure. Location is also ideal with 3 trams and 2 bus lines right in front bringing you to the more crowded center in less than 10 mins- or can walk to warf in under 15mins. just perfect experience!

Honestly, I consider Sommerro Hotel one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at, and I highly recommend it to everyone. Fantastisk opplevelse: First class all the way. The staff was extremely helpful with all of our needs and questions about getting around Oslo. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, beautifully appointed in high Art Deco style. We also had dinner there and all was perfect. The breakfast is one of the most comprehensive and delicious selections I’ve ever encountered travelling w expansive choices of fresh fruit, yogurt, meats, granola, muesli, cheeses, fabulous healthy breads, and a few yummy hot egg breakfasts cooked to order plus hard and soft boiled eggs at the ready. If you can find something wonderful for breakfast here, you aren’t hungry. But the best was the extremely friendly and helpful staff. It was just a delight to be there and steps away is everything you could possibly need.

Positiv opplevelse: In so many ways an outstanding hotel. Well Designed rooms. Excellent facilities. Best breakfast offering. First class location. But let down by not having the service level such a hotel deserves. No one answers the telephone. No communication upon check in to advise when a room is ready. Poor coordination at breakfast to get espresso based coffee and consequently 10-15 minute delays. Hope this gets fixed because this should be one of the best hotels in Europe.

Fantastisk opplevelse: I went there for the restaurant and took the steak. The fries were excellent , the steak wasn't. Overall, I was satisfied but ended up with a kebab at the Cathedral before midnight.

Positiv opplevelse: Can't really recommend this hotel. It's crazy to me to be charged extra if you want to use the pools/saunas (they have a rooftop pool and basement pools/ sauna/ cold plunge. I didn't realize this when I booked and this is the only hotel I've been to where the pool use is extra- I was specifically interested in the hotel because I wanted to use the rooftop pool. The hotel already costs quite a bit so to be charged extra to use a pool is crazy. Go find a hotel that includes a pool as part of your stay. Also the hotel is very large with many restaurants and not very personable or charming, just large and busy. The rooms are quite small. Also you cannot lower the A/C more than 3 degrees C and one night I could not sleep well as I was too hot and could not lower the temperature more than 3 degrees. Included breakfast is ok, with large buffet and limited a la carte options from the kitchen with basics like eggs benedict, florentine, waffles, english breakfast but nothing cooked that amazingly. The buffet is pretty good and what you would expect with lots of yogurts, fruit, cheese, pastries, but the a la carte options from the kitchen are only average. Given all this I don't think the value for money is there - small rooms, not included pool, average breakfast. Plenty of other places to stay. Not sure why this place got so many awards.

The bed was especially comfortable, making it easy to unwind after a day of exploring the city. The location of the hotel couldn’t have been better. Situated in the heart of Oslo, it offered convenient access to shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions, making it an ideal base for discovering the city’s vibrant character. One of the absolute highlights was the buffet, which was nothing short of incredible. The variety and quality of the offerings were exceptional, with fresh ingredients and beautifully presented dishes that catered to every taste. Dinner was just as impressive, with a lively yet refined atmosphere—and to top it off, a live band provided the perfect soundtrack to the evening, adding a fun and sophisticated energy to the dining experience. Sommero Hotel delivers an elevated stay with fantastic food, a prime location, and a uniquely stylish atmosphere. It’s a place where every detail is carefully considered, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return on my next trip to Oslo.

Fantastisk opplevelse: Das war hervorragend! Die volle Punktzahl vergebe ich eher selten und nicht so inflationär wie manch anderer, aber hier ist sie vollkommen gerechtfertigt. Hier stimmt eigentlich alles. Sehr freundliche und zuvorkommende Mitarbeiter, alles sehr stylisch und durchgehend stimmig gestaltet, Zimmergröße und -Ausstattung passt, wunderbares, qualitativ hochwertiges Frühstück, sehr großer und gut ausgestatteter Fitnessbereich usw. Zu Recht 5 Sterne, sowohl hier als auch in der Hotelkategorisierung.

Positiv opplevelse: Nice central location, clean rooms, received an upgrade so also spacious. Breakfast was also good in the restaurant.

Negativ opplevelse: We were at the restaurant and were not allowed to order food as hotel guests. We were told to go to our room and order from there as the kitchen is only open for room service. We love this hotel but that is not the service we expected…

Positiv opplevelse: This is a really beautiful hotel in a great location. The rooms are definitely the highlight, they are small but feel very luxurious and cosy. However, I booked the hotel specifically for the pool as I really wanted to swim during the holiday. We found out upon arrival that use of the pool was chargeable. I don’t mind having to reserve a time slot but I can’t believe hotel guests are made to pay. I’m not sure how a hotel can justify 5 stars when that is the case. Because of this, the overall experience felt more like an aparthotel than a place that makes you feel well looked after. I wouldn’t stay here again for this reason, but everything else was lovely.

Fantastisk opplevelse: A very pleasant stay at Sommerro in Oslo. The rooms felt new, functional, and modern. The bar and restaurant on the ground floor were outstanding and had a great atmosphere. This hotel was a brilliant find for us and one I would highly recommend.

Fantastisk opplevelse: El hotel Sommerro tiene una ubicación excelente y un diseño muy cuidado que mezcla lo clásico con lo moderno. El edificio es precioso y tiene mucho carácter, con detalles arquitectónicos que llaman la atención. Las habitaciones son cómodas y bien equipadas, aunque quizá algo justas de espacio según la categoría. El desayuno está bastante bien, con opciones variadas y productos frescos. El rooftop con piscina y sauna es sin duda uno de los puntos fuertes, ideal para relajarse con buenas vistas. Algunos espacios comunes pueden estar algo concurridos, sobre todo en horas punta. El personal fue amable y profesional, aunque en algunos momentos el servicio podría haber sido más ágil. En general, es un buen hotel si buscas una experiencia diferente en Oslo, con un entorno bonito y un toque especial, aunque el precio es algo elevado para lo que ofrece en conjunto.

Positiv opplevelse: The pool and sauna are lovely but if you're looking for a proper treatment unfortunately this isn't the place. The massage was very light even though i booked a deep tissue massage. Staff is lovely and friendly buy the prices are too high compared to the treatments.

Fantastisk opplevelse: Oslo’s culinary scene is by far flamboyant, yet, breakfast at Sommerro is like being in an Orient Express dream. Our excellent Florentine Eggs chefs were Latin American – that says it all for the deliciousness. The Sommerro’s home is the art deco former HQ of Norway's state energy company in Oslo's West End. The atmosphere is artful and delightful, the decor made us feel part of a short romantic fairy tale story.

Fantastisk opplevelse: En kort gåtur fra Nationaltheatret stasjon ligger hotellet i et rolig men sentralt område. Resepsjonen holdt unna for trykket når vi kom og vi følte oss godt ivaretatt. Høy standard på alle områder med rommet som vinneren. Godt utvalg spisesteder for middag og hyggelig betjening over alt. Frokosten hadde alt vi ønsket oss og det ble løpende ryddet unna på en diskret måte. Vi kommer igjen.
